Driving over Lemons: An Optimist in Andalucía
Driving over Lemons: An Optimist in Andalucía by Chris Stewart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Chris Stewart has decided to live in the mountains of Spain. He doesn’t have much money or experience of farming (apart from being able to shear sheep) but he is enthusiastic and eager to learn. This is the story of how he and his wife, Ana, started their new lives.

A friend of mine lent me this book as she had enjoyed it as an easy read and she is absolutely right. Chris and Ana, particaurly Chris, have no idea about what they are doing, buy an unsuitable property, and generally muddle their way through with the help of some fascinating local characters.

I did enjoy reading the book but it did seem rather short! Three or four incidents of note are related and then it just seems to come to a stop, ripe to read the next 2 books in the trilogy I suppose but slightly unsatisfying for that. It was fun to read and it did make me smile without it really involving any thinking at all and for that, I would definitely recommend it.

I won’t be moving to the mountains of Spain, however…
