The Killer Next DoorThe Killer Next Door by Alex Marwood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

6 lost souls rent parts of a house in northbourne from a creepy landlord. One of them is a killer.

This sounds like a premise for a great read, I really enjoy thrillers and crime stories and am not susceptible to being overcome by explicit descriptions of nasty happeninings. I do have to say though, I did find this novel exceptionally gory even for me. I felt the descriptions of the embalmed bodies deteriorating were most unpleasant and I don’t think added much to the story itself.

On the other hand, I really came to like some of the characters, particularly the very strong females who lived in the house, and I thought they were very well drawn and interesting whereas I found the men less so as there was a lot less detail about most of them.

I enjoyed the overall story of this book, but I think the specifics were a bit too specific and the nastiness was really a bit too nasty, even for me!
